Festive cheer

AIR RAVES
By ANTHONY THANASAYAN

OUR local radio airwaves continue to be in a joyful mood with festive programming to mark Deepavali yesterday and to usher in Hari Raya Aidilfitri this week.

Radio Televisyen Malaysia’s Tamil broadcaster Minnal FM aired a special Goodbye Deepavali show from midnight until three this morning, highlighting memorable moments of Deepavali yesterday.

The Deepavali celebrations continue today, with a 45-minute festive drama entitled Sothi Sudare at 10.15am on Minnal FM. The show reinforces noble and moral values associated with the Festival of Lights.

Deepavali Sirapu Kalaivanam, which comes on at 1.15pm until 2pm, talks about the latest movie releases during Deepavali and features interviews with actors and actresses as well as with popular recording artistes.

Sirapu Chelame Selvame is yet another 45-minute segment about how children see Deepavali and what the occasion means to them. Children’s songs will also be played on the programme which starts at 4.15pm.
